December 2011 Utah Trip

We were home for one full day and after Dave finished his last final we did a little Husker Christmas shopping. We had to get Linc in the spirit so we helped him out a bit:

We had a good half night's rest and then we all drove to Utah early, early the next morning. The scenic drive was, well boring, I'm sorry to say this...but Nebraska to Utah is the flattest, most boring drive anyone can ever make. The thing that kept us entertained was being able to listen to the Hunger Games. We almost got through the first book by the time we got to Utah. Everyone was excited to see Linc (and us)and even though it took him some time to remember everyone he was happy to see them too.

We had a birthday part for him that weekend and it was a wonderful party to say the least. I was busy cooking and making sure everything was all set up and ready. I decided to buy a cake for him because I was way to exhausted to worry about making one. It turned out really cute and kept with the theme of baseball, just like the invites that his auntie Christie designed (which everyone thought was super cute and I was pleased to say that my sister designed them especially for Linc).

I guess it was confirmed this time around that Linc is just not a cake person. He takes after Dave that way. We also found out that Linc is not a messy eater (at least not with cake). He did put his mouth on the corner, but didn't bite it. He barely wanted to touch the cake, he grabbed it a little with his finger tips, but again enjoyed when everyone was singing to him.

We sat him in the high chair to see if he would go at it and dig in, but still no go. I tried feeding him some, but he would just spit it out. Dave and I decided that on his actual birthday we would do a birthday pie and see how that turned out.

We were so happy to see everyone and I know Linc was too! He enjoyed opening his presents and has enjoyed playing with all of them since we have been home. He loves pulling all the mega blocks out of the bag and putting them all over the floor. He can even connect them, but enjoys taking them apart more! He is learning how to use the shape sorters and spends several hours each day with all of his books. I think everyone picked out the perfect gift for him because he uses each of them every single day.

On Sunday evening we had the Wayt gift exchange. It was exciting and fun as always. Everyone got some good things and there was lots of food to be enjoyed as well. By the end of the night both of our families new about the new baby on the way. Krystal was shocked that we could keep it a secret for so long, but excited that our babies would be about 6 weeks apart!

On Monday night the grandparents took all the grandkids to see the lights. They also bought matching shirts so that they could take pictures. It's pretty hard to get a good picture with so many babies, but they all looked super cute!

By the end of the night Linc was so tired! Dave got a pic of his sad face...it is the cutest sad face ever!!

We couldn't leave without getting a few more shots of Linc with more family and luckily he cooperated, for the most part.

It was a fun trip and we were glad to have been able to see everyone.
