Big Smiles and Daddy Time

It's hard to believe how fast babies grow. I ran across these pictures of Linc with his teeth not all the way in and he looks so cute!

Dave love's to play with Linc after a long hard day at school. Linc loves playing on the bean bag and seriously enjoys when Dave throws him on it. Luckily it is big and fluffy so there have been no accidents or injuries. It looks like Linc is doing some crazy tricks in the air...

Christmas Decoration Surprise

I didn't do much decorating this year since we were going to be gone most of December. I did buy Dave his special tree that he can decorate in red, white and blue. That was our tree for the year. I put it up while Linc was taking his nap and boy oh boy was he surprised when he woke up. I brought him down and he noticed little by little the decorations and stockings and then it happened...he noticed the tree in the corner! He was so excited!! He kept raising his arm and making his "ah" noise and then would clap. He loved that thing. He would go over to it and try to grab it and then just look at it and clap and get really happy. It made my day that's for sure.

Thanksgiving 2011 Weekend

All I can say is that it was a wonderful day full of food, family, fun, laughs and Twilight! We stayed in Nebraska so that Dave had more time to study for finals. My parents didn't want us to be alone on our first Thanksgiving away so they (and my lil sis) made the trip out to be with us for the weekend. They were good company and Linc enjoyed them as much as they enjoyed him.

Our Thanksgiving feast was full of yummy food: Turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, rolls, strawberry jello, cranberry mold, and pumpkin pie! It was all so delicious and all made from scratch. Linc got his first turkey leg and even though it was almost as big as him he was able to pick it up and take a few bites of it on his own.

He loved all the food and by the end of the meal his belly was so round and full! I'm pretty sure he couldn't have put one more bite in his mouth without his belly exploding. He was so happy!! I think the highlight of the meal was Linc drinking sparkling cider...he went absolutely crazy! It was hilarious...he acted so silly.

On Saturday Dave studied all day and I took the fam on a tour of the football stadium and then we went to Omaha to check out the Mormon Trail Center. It was really neat and they had a ginger bread display that was pretty cool too. We took some fun pictures and enjoyed a wonderful day.

My family saw us off to church and then left shortly after to make the long drive back home. It was a great weekend and we enjoyed the holiday company, not to mention a big success for my first time hosting Thanksgiving...and of course thanks to my parents for helping with the cooking.

Owl Heads and Mullets

Wow it has been a while since I last blogged...about 3 months! So here are some catch up blogs to fill ya in on the past 3 months. Let's just say a lot has happened!! I learned to crochet and my second project was an owl hat. I first crocheted one for my nephew Jaxon that was born in December and then made one for Linc. It has kept his head nice and warm all winter so far and should for the next couple months until winter is over. Surprisingly, he has no problem keeping it on. He looks so cute with it on and always gets so many comments and compliments when we go out, it probably has nothing to do with the had I made and just because he is such a cutie pie!

Lincoln's hair grows way too fast!! I feel like he needs a hair cut more often than Dave. I guess in November we let it get a bit too long and it was the start of a mullet. Well at least we know if we have a girl she will have beautiful long hair!

It got pretty long on top too, kinda reminded me of the cartoon boy Jimmy Neutron:

I'm happy to say that we have not let it get that long again, although he is in need of another haircut.

Busy Body

My sweet little boy loves dancing and reading! He especially likes to turn pages with his mouth, particularly on his music toy. He will turn the pages with his mouth, take a break and dance and then go back to turning those pages. I could sit and watch him all day...wait, I do sit and watch him all day and I LOVE IT!!

Oh the Noises they Make!

Here are Linc's two new noises. They are quite silly, but cute. One of them sounds similar to his older cousin Vinny. Maybe they will have their own way of communicating when they see each other.

They Grow TOO Fast!

I cannot believe Linc is already 10 1/2 months and come Christmas day he will be 1 year old! Time goes way too fast. There are days when I look at him and am amazed at how much he has grown and how much he has learned and continues to learn.

He continues to grow teeth like a champ...he now has 6 teeth! He has the 4 top front ones and 2 bottom ones. I notice his gums on the bottom are getting pretty swollen so I won't be surprised if the little guy pops another two out before he is one, which would give him a mouthful of 8 teeth. I'll keep you posted. For now he enjoys the ones he has and used them every chance he gets.

He continues to love to play ball and will throw and catch for a long time. He has figured out that if he throws it at the wall it will come back to him and he will sit, play and laugh as he does that. It's adorable.

He also likes throwing the little ping pong balls all around and chasing them all over the kitchen, dining room, and living room. It keeps him entertained forever!

He also loves the mirrow and will laugh and smile and he always looks for me through the mirror. He will blow raspberries on the mirror and then laugh at himself.

Other times we play "where's Lincoln" as he crawls all over and under everything. Sometimes we play where is Mr. Bear and I will hide his bear and he will go and find it. The other night Dave and I played hide and seek with him and I would hide behind the wall and Dave would ask "where's mommy" then Linc would go and find me. I would then ask "where's daddy" and he would go find Dave. Smart little guy!

Run, Tackle, Scream

Lincoln loves his dad! They play every chance he can. One of the things Linc likes is to tackle his daddy. They would run and jump on the bean bag, then Linc would tackle Dave and end it with a scream. They did this for probably an hour! It didn't get old and it was really fun to watch. Linc enjoys it and laughs. So precious! This video is from a couple weeks ago, but still a good one...

Where's Lincoln's Head?

This is brand new as of today! Lincoln is learning where his head is. He kind of took the lead on this one and I followed what he was doing. He was doing it without prompts to start, but then I would prompt him by putting my hand on my head and he would then follow my prompt...still amazing! I know I've said it plenty, but he is one smart cookie!!

Moving on up...

This past week Lincoln finally moved from his infant car seat to his big boy car seat. The infant one was getting pretty tight, especially now that he is having to use a winter coat in the mornings when we take Dave to school. This was the last time that Linc was in his infant seat. It snowed and rained that day and it was the first time he wore his big coat, which he doesn't really like. It restricts his movement and the hood covers his eyes sometimes. I think he will get used to it soon though.

Now we have him in his big boy car seat and he likes it! There is plenty of room for his jacket and plenty of room above his head.

He did take some time to say good-bye to his old car seat before it was completely put away.

Just like all kids Linc may have enjoyed the box that the car seat came in more than the seat itself. He took some time to play and explore and we even experimented with his light toy in the dark. He really liked it. He has no pants because the little wiggle worm will crawl away as fasst as he can so it takes some time getting him dressed.

Lincoln surprises everyday! He is now starting to clap along with the song "if you're happy and you know it...". The cool thing is that he doesn't just clap randomly, he claps when you are supposed to and does the two claps!! We don't let him watch television, the only thing we let him watch is the your baby can read DVDs and it's not even daily. I have noticed that when I sing him the head, shoulders, knees and toes song he looks over at the TV because he recognizes it as one of the DVD songs. He is a smart little guy and is definitely starting to recognize some of the words and phrases. I'm so proud of my little guy.

Attack of the Squirrel!!

I was so sad when we found my pumpkin that had been attacked by the squirrel. We left the pumpkins out Halloween night so that there could be something festive when the trick-or-treaters came. We actually only had two and they came at the same time!! Oh well, the trunk-or-treat was a success. I needed to send out a piece of mail the next morning so I opened the front door and saw the squirrel eating Dave's pumpkin!! I closed the door quietly and quickly grabbed the camera. I caught the little guy on video. The crazy part is that I think he saw me, he was looking right at me through the window...I think he had a look on his face that said, "yes I am eating your pumpkin and you aren't going to do anything about it". He just kept on eating. I went out there after he ran away and snapped a few pics of Dave's pumpkin. He ate all the teeth from the mouth that he carved. Crazy squirrel!!

The Happiest Halloween

Linc's first halloween turned out the be a great one! It was definitely a busy day and exhausted all three of us. We took Dave to school and then I came home to finish our shirts. Linc's costume was complete, but since I started our shirts the night before I was a little behind and had to work hard. I finished the shirts with just enough time to get myself ready and have a quick bite to eat. The law school had trick-or-treating for the kids so I had to wake Linc up to get him ready for the fun! He is such a good little guy, I opened his door and he heard it and woke right up. It was just about time for him to wake up so he was well rested enough. He had no problem with me getting his costume on and when I was painting his face he was laughing and laughed when he saw himself in the mirror. It turned out really good and everyone loved him at the school. He had a great time and by the end of it he knew what he was supposed to do when they put the candy bowl out for him. He is a sweet little count von count and even though he was still not 100% better he enjoyed the day. After the trick-or-treating at the law school we made a quick stop at home to get the candy and our pumpkins for our ward trunk-or-treat. As Dave ran up our stairs to the porch I heard him say "a squirrel is eating your pumpkin!". It really did a number on my poor pumpkin. He ate the eye and like the whole middle part. It actually made it so that the middle chunk fell out!! AND it stole my candle!!! Here is the before: And here is the after: After that we hurried up and made our way to the trunk-or-treat at church. We did not plan well at all! We were out of candy in like 5 minutes!! We took Linc around and he enjoyed looking at all the crazy costumes. He even made a little clown friend at the balloon station. He enjoyed it, but we left when he started to get fussy. We made a quick stop at the store on the way home to pick up some candy for the trick-or-treaters at the house. When we got home we wanted to take a few more good pics of Linc. It was kind of difficult because he was exhausted and hungry for real food!! I gave him some pineapple and meatballs and he ate every bite. We got some cute shots of his fangs, his vampire look, and baby vampire playing. We even caught the vampire dancing! Oh and of course we got some of his bite...he actually bit the apple. We heard the crunch!! Overall, it was a very successful Halloween!! At the ward trunk or treat

Today was quite the day! Dave stayed home with Lincoln while I went to church. He was actually kind of sad when I came home and told him they had talked about emergency preparedness. Everyone had to fill out a list and Dave has done a pretty good job getting us started on our emergency essentials. Later in the afternoon I made some chocolate covered pretzel sticks and decorated them for my little primary class. I'll give them to them at the trunk or treat tomorrow. After a delicous dinner the real fun began! Linc had his first pumpkin carving experience. We put the pumpkins on the table and Linc explored them a bit. He stood by them, sat on them, crawled through them and then I think he was ready to get down to business. He watched Dave cut the top off of the pumpkin. After the first slice I moved him away because he wanted to do what daddy was doing and was reaching for the knife. Linc then prepared his tool of choice. He tested it out, which for Linc means in the mouth and give it a bite! After he was done testing it out he watched how his daddy carefully scooped out all the pumpkin guts. He was taking note on how he should do it. I guess after thinking about it Linc felt that the little orange scooper was not going to be sufficient so he used what works well for him...his mouth!! He was NOT shy about it at all...he bit right into that thing and stuck his whole face on it! The taste of pumpkin is not an unfamiliar food for the little guy, he loves squash and just ealier that day had the left over baked pumpkin from the pumpkin curry I made recently. We let him explore and then when he was done he just threw it down. He definitely got the full experience. He took a nap and then when he woke up we were done and here are some pics of the final products. Daves is the scary big mouth pumpkin and mine is Jack Skellyton. Lincoln says "what"...LOL (ok not really, probably, but it sounds like it)

A Proud Mom

There are so many things that Linc does that I am so proud of. He is one smart cookie! I love how I can see the intention and though in his face when he is trying something new or doing something on purpose. This past Thursday I was soooo proud of the little guy. He has been sick this past week and not feeling well, so I have been doing a lot of holding him. I love it and can't complain. This particular day he was content with hanging out by the couch, cruising back and forth, until he realized he was tired of the couch and wanted to go to the bean bag. He let go of the couch, stood for a few seconds while he gained confidence in his balance and then walked the 3 1/2 steps that it took him to get to the bean bag. It was AMAZING...and I'm not just saying that because I am his mother. I could see that he had a goal and he set out to get it and then accomplished it! The apple definitely does not fall far from the tree. He seriously makes me so proud!! He takes after his parents in so many ways. This next one is definitely all me...sorry hun. We all remember the "dance, dance, dance" Lincoln from earlier. Well Lincoln is now evolving into a more coordinated and self-producing dancer. I think its from watching me do Zumba...haha!! He loves music and has since birth, he will make it so that his toy plays the music and then bounces up and down to it...rather rhythmically I might add. You can see by the smile on his face that he totally enjoys it.

As I was trying to get some good footage of him dancing and catch him in his moment I got this instead. He heard the sirens from a fire truck (not an ambulance like I say in the video) and he stops until its pretty much gone. Then he looks over to where he heard the sound. Did I mention he is a little smarty pants?

This is usually how he dances, I guess he is like his mommy. We don't really need a party, we are perfectly content dancing by ourselves.

My Poor Sick Baby

Linc woke up from his nap on Tuesday with a fever. He acted okay so I just gave him some Tylenol and we went about our day. He did take an extra nap. That night around 2 or 3 a.m. he woke up crying and was burning up. I gave him some motrin and was with him for most of the night. He was kinda fussy and not wanting his bottle and just overall not happy. He would cry off and on and then cried for a while. I had to say a prayer because it was breaking my heart to see him so sad. I definitely know that prayers are answered because Dave walked in the room about 20 minutes later, which was probably around 4am and Linc went straight to him and settled right down. We took him to our bed (second try that night) and he looked out the window for a couple minutes, saw his bottle that he had been pushing away for about 2 hours and gladly started to drink it. His fever broke and he started to sweat and then he was asleep in no time. The next morning we went downstairs and he gave his daddy a big hug! I thought it was the sweetest thing so I grabbed the camera to capture the sweet moment.

I love what Elder Utchdorf said, "giving up sleep for a little one is a good sacrifice". There are no better moments than when you can hold you baby and comfort them, whether it is a 3 in the morning or all day long. I would much rather get nothing done and be there to comfort my little boy. Everything else can wait! He has been so sweet and cuddly. He will play a little and then crawl back to me and just want to be held for a while. He is doing a lot better although still cuddly and sensitive, which I won't complain about one bit. I absolutely love Linc with all my heart!

My Growing Boy...

I always love driving with Linc. He is so curious about what is going on around him and loves to look outside. I remember when I couldn't even see him because he was so small and then I was able to just barely see his eyes. I love being able to look back and see him looking up in my direction or when I hand him his bottle and he just reaches his arm up and grabs it. Lately I have noticed that I can see a lot more than just his eyes...

We are definitely in need of a new car seat. I found the one we are going to get I just haven't had a chance to get it. Linc still has about 1/2 an inch before he officially grows out of the seat. He is getting way too clever. He will reach back and pull the shade forward and play with it and he will lower the safety belt clip so he can lean forward. I think my favorite is when he hears a crinkle sound, which is usually the sound of me eating something, and he turns and looks. I know exactly what he is thinking..."I want some of that mommy". Oh I love this little boy!

Yummy Dessert!!

We had some friends over on Sunday for dinner so I decided to make a cute and yummy dessert! It was definitely a hit and I love when I get to use my cute little trifle cups.

JKs Pumpkin Patch Adventures

We decided to make Lincoln's first Halloween a memorable one. We went to this pretty cool pumpkin patch!! It started off with us picking out our pumpkin cart. Dave had a blanket in the car so he laid it down for Linc to be able to ride in the cart.

Next Dave put Linc in the corn box, where he got a bit curious and wanted to taste the corn. Dave and Colt had a bit of fun and buried Linc in the corn. I think he was a bit confused at what they were doing...but he enjoyed it!

We found a place to see how tall we are. First Dave held Linc up, but then realized he didn't have to hold him up because the little guy can stand up on his own!!

We had to take a family picture to see how we all measured up...it wasn't accurate, especially not for Linc, but it was a fun thing to do.

Fun times at some photo spots and some tricycle races. The boys rode the trikes just fine down the track until they got to the corner and then both got stuck...hilarious to watch!!

We had some fun at the little petting zoo...Linc liked the animals, especially their fur. Dave wanted me to take Linc down the hay slide so I did. That slide was pretty steep and a lot faster than I had anticipated.

We were able to take a hayride over to the pumpkin patch area so that we could pick our pumpkins (which I am realizing I didn't get a picture of). It was a fun little ride.

We took our time walking through the big pumpkin patch to find what we thought was the best pumpkin. Leslie and Colt picked a green pumpkin and then a green bumpy pumpkin. They love the ones they picked...definitely had character. Linc gave his kiss of approval to the pumpkin he liked!

On the way to the corn maze we stopped to enjoy the sunset...it was beautiful!! The corn maze was a fun little treat. It was a first for Linc, me and Colt! Hard to believe, but fun to share a first with my little baby boy.

Lincoln was sure fascinated with all of the hay and stole a few bites here and there. He had a good time as did the rest of us. We are already planning ahead for next year and have decided that we will go again. It's crazy to think that Linc will be running around then.

High Five Linc!!

When we went down to see Kevin the guy sitting next to us in Sunday School asked Linc for a high five...he was not really sure what to do so I grabbed his hand and had him give the guy a high five. After that he took to it quite nicely. He definitely understands the concept now! He will hold up his own hand when he wants a high five and thinks it is so funny when I give him multiple high fives at once.

Swinging Time

I took Linc to a park that is on the way to the law school. All I have to say is that will be the last time we stop at that park! Linc was more interested in the people yelling and curious about them than anything else. He enjoyed the swing, but you can tell by the look on his face in the picture where he is turned that he is trying to figure out what the people next to him are yelling about. CRAZY!!! We were there for about 30 minutes and then went home. I think the saddest part of that park trip was when the little girl asked her mom to push her on the swing and the response from the mother was "I can't, I have to smoke this cigarette"...are you kidding me?!! Overall, Linc enjoyed the outside and the nice fall day. The weather was actually really nice. Next time I think we will go back to our other park.

Pumpkin Curry

Dave and I absolutely LOVE pumpkin curry...especially at our favorite restaurant in American Fork called Thai Village. We are so sad that no one has pumpkin curry. Our Thai neighbors didn't even know it existed. I absolutely could not go the entire time we are here in Nebraska without pumpkin curry so I decided to make it myself. I went to the store and bought a sugar pie pumpkin. Actually I ended up buying two so I could make more than just pumpkin curry from scratch (pumpkin pie to come later), but I figure I would start with the pumpkin curry. It was actually for out in-home date night dinner and a movie.

I started with the basic red curry paste, coconut milk, onions, garlic, and a few other things to make the curry. Then we added the chunks of pumpkin, chicken, onions and broccoli. I let it simmer while I went to go pick Dave up from school and then we enjoyed it when we got home. It turned out pretty good although next time I am going to change a few things. I have a feeling that by the time I leave here I will have a pumpkin curry that I am totally satisfied with!

Kevin's Homecoming!!

I cannot believe how fast two years can pass. It seems like not that long ago we took Kevin out to dinner to say good-bye to him before he left on his mission. This past week we drove to Independence, MO for Kevin's homecoming. Dave enjoyed the drive down. The plan was for me to drive so that he could study, but this is what he did:

We drove passed the Kansas City temple that is going to be opening later sometime. We were going to do a bit of sight seeing, but ended up leaving later and taking longer because of a road closure.

When we got to Kevin's home Dave had to take a picture by this home that he thought was hideous. I think Linc might agree, but I think he is just tired from the drive down.

On Sunday we went to church, but since we got there a little early we took Linc for a walk. We liked the sign from the church across the street so we went and Dave and Linc took a picture in front of it. The funny thing is that we saw someone else drive up just to take a picture of the sign and then drive off. Kevin and his parents gave wonderful talks and the song Kevin sang was beautiful.

After church we went back to the house for some food, family and fun. Linc entertained himself with Dave's phone. He also kind of enjoyed all the people, but with the lack of a nap he was kind of on edge.

Kevin had a wonderful mission, but is adjusting to being home. We were happy to see him and enjoyed catching up. We were sure to snap some pics before we left.

We stopped for gas before we hit the road and we saw the funniest thing!! A person moving a washer on the back of a compact car. It pretty much topped off the weekend. Although it took us a much longer time to get home because of detours, it was a wonderful trip and we can't wait to see Kevin again!!

The Cutest Smile

These pictures were taken on October 9th. It shows all of his teeth and even the one that is coming in on the top front. He loves his teeth, but I realize that teeth are a very curious thing for babies. He loves to feel his teeth with his tongue and now he grinds his teeth sometime, which cannot be good. He is a teeth growing pro...that's for sure!!

Lincoln's Blessing...

Some fun memories from Lincoln's blessing in California. He was blessed on the same day as his cousin so that was fun. We went to my grandparents house after where my grandpa grilled up some delicious carne asada. I still cannot believe how much he has changed in the past 6 months.

Family Pics...

When we went to California for the Ragnar we took some family pictures. I cannot believe How much Linc has changed in 6 months!! He was only three and a half months and had a recent hair cut so his hair is short. We went to the San Juan Capistrano mission to take these pictures. It was a beautiful day!

To this day Lincoln loves to sit on Dave's shoulders...he also enjoys eating his head when he can get the chance, but often times if Linc gets fussy all Dave has to do is put him up on his shoulders and he is content.

I absolutely love my little guy...such a sweetheart!!

Later that day we went to Huntington Beach. This was Linc's first time at the beach. He LOVED it!!! He liked putting his little feet in the sand and digging his toes in it.

Toward the end of the session he started to get fussy so we walked him down to the shore and he was calmed immediately by the ocean waves. As usual he always loves playing with his dad and being flown up high in the air.

We absolutely loved that day and now thanks to my wonderful sister and her awesome skills we have memories of that day.

Mouths are not just for talking...

I have noticed Lincoln using his mouth a lot more...not just to talk, but to other things as well. The other day I caught him turning the pages to his little toy with his mouth. He had done it several times and when I finally started filming he was pretty much to the end of that "reading" session. He is a clever and curious little guy.

My Little Zumba Man!!

I was giving Linc some food and I was listening to Single Ladies for a Zumba routine and I was waving my arms. Next thing I knew he was copying me and doing the same thing! (Later that week I started to turn it into a wave, which we are still working on...although he does pretty well most times)

Zumba Love...

I started teaching Zumba last Thursday again and went from 2 classes to 3 classes to 5 classes all by Saturday morning. I forgot how much fun it is to teach...and to exercise!! I think the last time that I had worked out was when we were training for the So Cal Ragnar in April!! All I have to say is it is good to be back. Last Wednesday and Thursday I was reviewing my music and remembering routines. There was a point when I was looking on my phone trying to figure something out. Linc was playing on the floor in the living room and I was on the couch. He crawled over to me and was at my knees. I noticed that he would tilt his head to the side so that I could see him, when I would make eye contact with him he would get so happy. I stopped what I was doing and switched to video so the I could film him. You will notice that his head leans to the side every so often...he was so cute and just wanted my attention. He sure knows how to get it!! Sorry for the sideways video, I forget that when I use my phone I have to hold it a certain way to get the video to be the right way.

Tickle Time and the big FOUR STEPS!!

After we had put Linc down in his crib, we realized that he was not quite ready for bed. We brought him down for a little play time. Dave loves to wrestle, tickle, and just play with Linc and Linc has no objection to it! I think the bean bag is their favorite place to play. Linc is climbing all over the bean bag now and has realized that the can use it to his advantage to get to places he could not before, like the couch. He is a brave little guy, sometimes too brave. He dives off of the bean bag to get off of it, luckily he has not gotten hurt. He actually hasn't had any bumps or bruises that I can think of. He is one tough cookie. I have to apologize for the dark video, we don't have a ceiling light in our living room, just a lamp.
These two videos are actually right before Linc decided to take those amazing first 4 steps. We tried to get video of him trying to walk, but the playing had gotten him all tired out he just kept lunging towards me and then crying. So unfortunately, we didn't get good footage of him...we are trying though.
For a quick recap of how those steps went:
I was holding him at arms length and letting him go so he could stand and then saying come her Linc...he would take a step or two and then lunge forward. Dave came and joined in the fun and after quite a few times of the 1-2 steps he took 3!! We were so amazed we did it again and the was when he took 4 steps!! Dave went to get the video camera and then that is when Linc became tired and cranky and did not want to perform. Dave was really happy that he was able to take part in Linc's first steps. It was a wonderful family moment.

Linc's Version of Great Grandma Wayt

As I was finishing up the peach pie for Sunday dinner I had Linc in the kitchen with me and he was playing with his toy. I heard the music moving so I looked over and saw that he was walking with it across the kitchen!! I think it's his way of saying that he remembers living with great grandma Wayt and misses her now that we are in Nebraska.

Our Special Celebratory Dinner

We have been saving this special drink to celebrate Dave getting into law school. We have not had a chance until this past Sunday to actually prepare and enjoy that dinner. We sat down and planned out what we wanted to have and the menu consisted of steak, potatoes, bread, veggies and salad...and of course our favorite Organic Santa Cruz Mango Lemonade!!! Seriously the best drink ever!! Dave set up the grill that his parents gave us for Christmas last year and broke it in by grilling these:

He enjoyed himself and even kept Linc outside with him while he grilled...I think the only thing Linc was concerned with was which steak was his.

The meal was delicious and we were stuffed after eating it...and no we did not finish those big steaks, but it makes for good leftovers that is for certain!

After dinner we went on a nice Sunday walk, which was ended when it started to rain. We made it back to our place before it got too bad, but we were still kind of wet. When we got back from the walk I finished making the peach pie that was in progress. Linc played a bit, we put him to sleep...so we thought, we brought him back down for a while and that was when he took his amazing 4 steps!! After Linc was back in his crib asleep we enjoyed a slice of homemade peach pie...YUMMY!!!

Veggie Thief in the Making...

I went grocery shopping on Saturday for a special dinner we were to have on Sunday. I had some things in the cart and as usual curios Linc wants to grab whatever he can get his cute little hands on. I was looking at the salad dressings and then when I looked back at Linc I saw this...

The silly little boy will reach back, while sitting forward and just putting his arm back, and grab whatever he can. This time he found lettuce and was really excited that he could actually grab a piece of it! I had to stop for a minute and watch his cleverness and then I captured the moment to share with all of you!! Here are the still photos of the little guy in action...

Dave's Scooter Accident

So a few weeks ago we were doing our normal morning routine...Dave leaves for school and Linc and I go down and say bye to him and then close the garage once he is gone. This particular morning we walked him down, he got on his scooter and took off. Like normal we heard him ride to the corner and then stop for the stop sign and traffic. We usually wait til we can't hear him and then close the garage. What we heard next was not normal and definitely scary!! I heard him start his scooter and take off for like maybe two seconds and then I heard a BOOM!! I quickly composed myself and assured myself that at least he did not get hit by a car since I did not hear any screeching or anything like that. We quickly walked out of the garage and looked over to where Dave was getting up off of the grass...he had crashed his scooter and did a flip that had him land on the grassy area. I was glad to see that he was getting up and at least no major damage to him, but his scooter on the other hand was in pretty bad shape. If the scooter were human the paramedics probably would have done CPR to revive it. A bus stopped at the scene of the accident and asked if an ambulance needed to be called, Dave said no. We collected the pieces of the scooter that we could find and then walked the scooter back to the house. I took Dave to school that day.

Later that evening we examined the scene of the accident and noticed that Dave had taken a huge chunk of concrete off the curb/gutter!! There were chunks of concrete in the gutter and down the drain as well as some more pieces of the scooter. We collected a few more pieces, but the ones down in the drain we could not get to so they are still there to this day! Dave's scooter wheel is totally unaligned, the mirror was broken off, most of the lights were broken, it is scratched up, the license in the back was completely in half before it was pushed back to kind of flat, the floor part is cracked and so is the front side part. After seeing the accident site and the bike I was so happy that Dave was okay...it could have been so much worse than it was. Definitely a blessing!!!

Lincoln's Sunken Gardens

Have I mentioned that we live in such an awesome location? Well if I haven't already, WE DO!! We just have to walk a few blocks and we can go to the zoo, a rose garden and the sunken gardens. The Sunken Gardens is such a beautiful place! We have taken many walks to it. This particular morning we had just dropped Dave off at school and instead of going inside, I pulled the stroller out from the back of the car and we walked over to see the gardens. It is beautiful right now because the walk over is full of trees that are changing colors. Fall is very beautiful in Lincoln and it is only the beginning so more leaves will be changing colors soon!! The garden is like a big bowl shape that dips down under the street level. It has a small waterfall and two big coy ponds. There are paths that you can enjoy and plenty of flowers, trees, and other things to please the eye. Linc loves to see all the plants and he loves watching the fish! It's definitely nice to have such a nice relaxing place so close to home...

My Little Big Helper

Lincoln loves to help!! I sat him in the basket and piled all the towels on him and he loved it...I guess anyone would love being surrounded by soft fluffy things. He enjoys laundry day, I don't know if it's more the rides that he gets to take up and down the stairs or tipping over the basket and taking out all the clothes. Either way it makes it fun for the both of us...and if Linc is enjoying it, then I am too!

What's the Emergency?!!

I was waiting for Linc to get up from his nap so we could go have lunch with Dave last Friday. I kept hearing sirens and decided to look outside because it sounded like one stopped right in front of our house. Well turns out that it did!! One of the apartments across the street caught fire!! I took Linc out to see all the fire trucks and paramedics. There were 14 of them (I counted) and many of them had their lights on. He really like it. We could have been on the news, but we went inside to get ready for out lunch date. As I was getting ready to walk out, I noticed the news people with their families faced right to the corner where we had just been standing like 3 minutes prior. I guess we missed our moment for fame. Oh and no one got hurt in the fire. The construction people have been working ever since to put the apartment back to its top notch condition. When we got back from lunch there were still a few trucks at the house. We went back to look at the trucks and as one was leaving the firemen waved good-bye to Linc.

I keep forgetting to blog about this!! I am so proud of Lincoln. I know all (well a lot of) parents think this, but Lincoln is a genius in the making. When my mom and Robyn came to visit us in Utah before we left, she would let Linc turn off the light. After she left I didn't think much of it and then a little after we moved here to Nebraska I started doing the same thing with him, only each time I would say "apaga la luz", translation: turn of the light. We did that each time and then a couple weeks ago I said it to him as we were walking towards the door and he reached out for the light switch. I though it was coincidence so I went to another light that was on down stairs and did the same thing...he did it again!! I showed Dave and he was really proud of his son. Now I can say it to him and he will look around for where the light switch is so that he can turn of the light. Kids are AMAZING....especially Linc!!

Progress Continues to be Made!!

Just yesterday I was sitting at the kitchen table working on our blog when I glance over and see Linc under the chair (in the picture). He is reaching for a couple of his balls that he had thrown or had rolled under the chair. It is amazing to see the progress that infants make and at such a quick rate! It was probably just a day or two earlier that Linc was kind of stuck half under the chair and half in front of the chair. He could not figure out how to get away from the chair and now here he is using the chair to his advantage to get the ball that he had thrown behind it. He is a smart little guy, that's for sure! And for those of you who are wondering...yes he got the ball, probably about three of them that were behind there.

Conference Weekend...

Conference weekend was wonderful!! Since we are in Nebraska it starts at 11am, which meant I had time to do a little shopping before it started. I went to a consignment sale for kid's clothes and I got Linc some cute clothes for the winter months. After that I came home and made some Belgian waffles with fresh strawberries, homemade strawberry syrup, and fresh whipped cream!! Delicious...although I think I will find a different recipe for the waffles next time. Dave made some delicious "Chilean" eggs. We had some friends over Saturday to join us so it was a wonderful day.

Linc entertained himself rather nicely so between that and his naps we got to enjoy most of the conference without interruption. In between sessions Dave and Colt went to play a round of frisbee golf and Leslie and I did a little shopping for an activity she is planning at church. After second session Dave and I went for tacos and then he met Colt for the priesthood session. During priesthood, Leslie and I did a little mod podge and made some holiday decorations. It was really fun!

Sunday morning was a good morning. Dave got a little reading done and I prepared our now traditional raspberry sweet rolls. I think we have done this for the past 2 years now. They are super yummy!! Linc woke up from his nap a little after morning session started. We shared some of a roll with him and he absolutely LOVED it!! My favorite thing is when he crawls over to you, climbs up on you and then looks at you and opens his mouth so that he can have whatever we are eating. While he was awake he played and enjoyed himself. I played with him too so he wouldn't get bored. For dinner we had chili cheese polish sausages and fritos. I gave Linc some chili mixed with carrots and he ate every bit!! On Monday I dropped off rolls to 3 people because there were too many for just the two (well three) of us. Conference weekend was once again a wonderful, spiritual success. Can't wait for April!!

Food Time with Linc

I love watching Linc eat. He always enjoys his food. He is a pretty clean eater for the most part. I like when he bites the graham cracker and you hear him crunch when he bites a piece. On the way home from the zoo I gave him 3 umm I guess it would be 1/4 pieces of the graham cracker, one at a time. I thought for sure that I was going to find pieces in his car seat, but when I got him out there were no graham cracker left overs! He ate each piece without spilling, I thought for sure he had spilled because he was eating them pretty fast. I guess he doesn't want to waste his food...hehe.

As most of you know Linc is food's biggest fan! He pretty much eats what we eat. He will look at what you are eating if it is something different and I'm pretty sure he wonders why he isn't eating it. Usually we will let him try it, unless it is really spicy. He is a pretty fast eater sometimes, which he shows when eating his chicken.

Play Time with Linc

Linc loves to play with Dave. He loves to be tossed on the bean bag...he cracks up and laughs tons!

Just today Dave was playing with Linc on the bean bag and he had him sitting on a higher part and would count 1-2-3 and then Linc would jump to him. He even gives daddy sweet kisses.

We got Linc this toy that he can stand up and play with. He turns the book page and likes to push all the buttons. It is a bilingual toy so that's a bonus. In the video you can see him take his hands off the toy and stand up for a couple seconds. He has been doing this more and more! Today he actually let go of the couch and took a step toward the bean bag and then threw himself at the bean bag. He continued to do this over and over with me and the bean bag...I think we are going to have an early walker!!

First Zoo Trip-Omaha Zoo!!

On Thursday Linc and I were invited to go to the zoo with a friend from church so we packed a lunch and made a day of it. It was a super nice zoo! We saw the penguins first and Linc loved them! There were probably like 40 of them inside and they would swim by super fast and do their little tricks. It was fun to watch. We also got to sit in the bubble and see them up close. They are not shy and will come right up to you. Linc liked watching them. He stood there and was amazed by these little guys.

Next we saw the aquarium, which was super cool because it is all around you. It is on both sides and overhead and you can see all of the fish, sharks, and all the other things swimming all around. There was even a fish that posed with us for a picture!

We went to go visit the giraffes, but first we stopped at this statue of a giraffe that Linc reached out and touched. He would look up at it and he probably thought that was big and then he met the real giraffes. He stared at those guys for quite some time!

This zoo has a really cool jungle thing and Linc and I took a picture by a waterfall. We got to cross a wood bridge and went right to the waterfall. He loved the waterfalls that were spread out throughout. He also liked the cave drawings! He would reach out and touch the walls and then look at me and smile for the camera.

We visited the desert dome and then went underneath to see the creatures of the night, which included a trip to the swamp where we saw crocodiles and alligators and we even saw a rare albino alligator. It was set up super cool and we were basically walking on a deck right by them. A little creepy because they would swim right up to the fence, but pretty cool. There was an area at the end where you could see a bunch of alligators and watch them through the glass. There were a few that were cuddly and then others that would just dog pile on top of each other. Linc looked at these guys like they were strange, but then again they were probably looking at him the same way.

Overall, it was a fun trip. Linc had a lot of fun and enjoyed all the new things to look at and listen to. He really enjoyed the butterfly dome. There were hundreds of butterflies that would fly right in front of our face and some even land on you. He got down to walk a little and they were flying all around him. He looked at them in amazement. He fought taking a nap, but when he did fall asleep the 20 minutes that he slept were enough to get him through.

The Eensy Weensy Spider

On Wednesday Linc and I were eating lunch and having a good time. We have a nice big window in our dining area and Linc loves to look outside and see what is going on. I was feeding him some veggies and then I took a look outside and saw this big spider making his web!!! It's body is probably the size of a nickel and it was crawling up and down making its web. I hate spiders, but there isn't a way for me to get that thing off the window because I am NOT going to open the window to kill it. I guess he gets to stay.

Lincoln actually spotted the nasty spider and watched it move around for a while. He is more interested than anything else, good thing he is too little to know how gross they are. He just smiled and laughed as we sang the eensy weensy spider. Perfect song for the occasion.

My mom and sister would sing this song to Lincoln and he loves it!! I love watching how he follows my hand. He kind of gets distracted by the spider though...haha

What's for Dinner at 9 Months?

Today Linc is officially 9 months old!!! I cannot believe how time flies! I have to say that I absolutely love being a mother. There is truly no greater joy. I love when Linc grabs my face and turns it toward him and then gives me a kiss. I love it when Linc crawls over to me and climbs up on me and gives me the sweetest hug and then rests his head on my shoulder. I love it when I go in to get him after he wakes from his nap and he is sitting there with a huge smile. I love it when he hears Dave's scooter ride up and he stops what he is doing and looks toward the window. I love it when he crawls away, but stops to see if mom is there. I love it after bath time when I wrap him in his towel and carry him up to his room and he just looks up at me with a calming peace. I love it when he sits in his high chair and swings his chunky little legs back and forth reminding me how stress free life can be. I love every part of motherhood and all the joy it brings to my life.

Last night I came home to the sweetest thing. I think it was about 9:30pm and as I walked up the garage steps and into the house I turned the corner and Dave and Linc were sitting at the top of the stairs. Linc was standing with Dave holding him and Linc saw me and had the biggest smile! It was almost like he knew he was supposed to be asleep, but wanted to give the cutest look he could so I would forget that he was still awake. Well I was actually happy that he was awake! He was so happy and playful. Dave and I played with him for about 15 minutes before putting him to bed. He loves it when one of us holds him and the other chases him. He laughs so hard!! We did that over and over and over and then finally tired him out, put him in his crib and he fell fast asleep.

OKAY...so today I made homemade spaghetti sauce, meatballs and bread sticks for dinner!! Linc has been showing more and more signs of wanting to self feed so I gave him his very own plate of spaghetti and a meatball. As soon as I put it in front of him he reached for the spoon and put it straight to his mouth. He is doing a really good job and most days when I feed him he grabs the spoon right before it gets to his mouth and then finishes feeding himself. He is even doing a pretty good job of drinking out of his sippy cups, although I think he still prefers a regular cup without a lid. More and more he eats just what we eat...he likes it that way. I know for certain that knows when he gets something different from us because I will catch him staring at what we are eating with a look that says "I WANT THAT". Well there it is...our sweet little 9 MONTH OLD LINC!!!

Yeah for Teeth!!

Yeah!! As I was looking for Linc's sleepy play video I saw some pics that I had on my phone of Linc smiling. I looked at them and noticed that you can kind of see his teeth. I think the top left tooth (on the right side when looking at him) are more visible in the pictures. I did notice that in the blurry picture you can see two white blur areas on his upper gum, which are actually his teeth! Too bad he moved or I could have had a better picture. Oh well...I will get some better ones, but for now these will have to suffice. I'm guessing if you click on the picture to make it bigger you can see his teeth even better!

A Tired Kind of Play

Lincoln loves to play! He loves music and he loves to be involved. A couple days ago he was standing at the couch and playing with his toy, but he was kind of tired. He kept putting his head down and looking at the toy, but was not fully engaged because of his exhaustion. I thought it was pretty cute so I grabbed my phone and recorded a little bit of it. I think I put him to bed just after I stopped recording.

Dave and Linc's Night Out

Dave, Linc, Tyler and Calvin went to Memorial Stadium to watch the Husker's away game on the huge screen. It is a pretty cool thing they do. For all away games you can go to the stadium and hang out on the field or in the stadium seats and watch the game on the super huge screen. They have bounce houses and you can just run around on the field all while watching the game. They had fun and enjoyed a night with just the guys. Linc looks so tiny compared to the big letters in the end zone!

Dave was so proud of our little guy because he was approached by a student finishing up her degree in photography and asked if she could take pictures of Linc for her portfolio because he is such a cute baby...her words, not mine! We are waiting for some of those pictures so we hope she finds Dave on Facebook so that we will get the digital copy. She showed him the picture that she will use for the main page of her portfolio...our little Linc, a natural model haha!! Well they had fun and I'm excited to see the pictures because they are of both Dave and Linc. I will post them when I get them.

Linc's Newest Teeth...

I have been trying and trying to get a picture of his new teeth, but this little guy will not let me! They are a lot harder to get in a picture than the bottom two teeth. We have tried many different things, tickling (but he moves around too much), opening his mouth (but he clenches his jaw and pushes our hand away), holding him upside down (he always smiles, but not when he knows we are trying to get the teeth), and many other attempts. I will keep trying to get a good picture because you can't see any of his newest teeth in these...who knows though maybe by the time we get a good picture his top front teeth will have decided to come out too!

Some Fun Videos

For those who love to watch Linc and all the silly and cute things he does, I decided that I would just post some fun videos for your viewing pleasure. They are in no particular order. I'm kind of just going through our videos and labeling them. Also, sorry for the ones that are sideways, if there are any...they are from my phone and I cannot figure out how to turn it.

We have been working on this with Lincoln, it is kind of a hit and miss right now, but just like those who saw the dance dance he is starting to clap now on request.

Linc's favorite sound has been babababa, it has been for a while.

Dance-Dance-Dance: Linc loves to dance. He started dancing on his own when we would hold him up. We didn't get the dance dance stop on this one, but he is dancing to his Spanish nursery songs and if you notice he keeps a pretty good rhythm!

Linc used to jump towards Dave and he would get some good air to where he would almost be standing straight up before he would go forward. It was one of Dave's favorite things to have him do.

Here is a clip of Linc crawling toward the lamp, he got the cord so the video was cut short...haha!! He is a funny crawler. He has kind of progressed, because he started with rolling everywhere and would go from one side of the room to the other, then for a short while he would do this army/caterpillar crawl, then he started with the one knee and one foot thing, which most kids do after they have been crawling for a while and now he sometimes does this thing where he is on his hands and feet! I think he is trying to shortcut his way to walking...I'll keep you posted for sure!!

As we were packing up to move, I had put Linc in his swing for a minute so I could do something real quick. We look over and the silly little guy is swinging himself in the swing! The batteries were completely dead and it wasn't even on...CRAZY!!

One of my favorite things is to watch Linc through his baby cam and see what he does as he goes to sleep or when he wakes up. This is a video of him before he went to sleep. Sometimes he just sings, laughs, rolls around, sits up, stands up, yells, or sings his sleepy time song. You can hear his newest singing voice which is the high pitched "ahhh" type sounds.

Linc has been doing this silly scrunch face snort smile thing that he picked up a few weeks ago. Dave and I think it's so funny when he does it. It's kind of random, but sometimes he does it back if we do it to him so we often try to get a good video of him doing it.

Happy 27th Birthday Dave

Monday was Dave's birthday so we had a celebration! Dave and I woke up at the same time. He always does a bit of studying in the morning before school and I got up to make him breakfast. He studied in bed while I made him an omelet, french toast, and fresh squeezed orange juice. Linc gave him an early present the Friday before...it was a Huskers shirt that he could wear for Spirit Day Friday!! On Friday's before a game day everyone is wearing red and Dave's professor will call on you if you are not wearing red so we made sure he had another shirt to wear. His birthday morning we brought him breakfast in bed and gave him another little gift...a Huskers hat and some Milky Way. He enjoyed his breakfast and had to share with Linc who was grabbing at the plate with big eyes. Linc also had his first taste of fresh squeezed OJ and loved it.

Dave was at school until about 6:30pm and then we went out with a group of friends to Thai food. I have to say that we weren't too impressed with it and we won't be going back there again. Linc on the other hand could not get enough of it. He kept grabbing and pulling at my arm, which held the fork, and trying to get me to give him some. I started with just rice, but before long he was eating the pad thai and massuman curry. He loved it! I felt bad for Dave though because we just wanted our favorite Pumpkin curry from like we had in Utah from our favorite place Thai Village, but these people had no idea what pumpkin curry even was!! After dinner we all went back to our place and had some razzleberry pie, apple pie and of course ice cream. Dave got a couple more presents that night which included a huge thing of soda and plenty of candy and goodies to help keep him awake during classes and study time. We also gave him a circular saw so that he can make some more things for our home...haha!! Overall, he had a great birthday.

Linc's Husker Football Pics

I had a coupon for a free session and collage at Sears so I took advantage and put Linc in his Huskers jersey and had some pictures taken of our cute little baby boy. The picture lady loved photographing him and said he is the easiest most photogenic baby ever! I have to agree...hmmm maybe I am biased though. This is definitely a favorite. He has his game face on!

He was actually making his silly snorting laugh noise and she snapped the picture at just the right moment. Here are a few of the others we love. Yup the Sears copyright is across his face because we are too cheap to buy a picture disc that costs almost $200!!

Lincoln Air Show

This past weekend we went to the Lincoln Air Show. It was super fun, but it made for a long day! Dave and I felt like horrible parents, because we were not expecting to be there so long and we all got a little sunburned. Linc's nose and cheeks got a little red, but for the most part I kept him in his stroller with his shade cover up. The show was cool and so were all the planes. We stayed to watch the blue angels, which was probably the best part. I guess that's why they keep it for the end of the day. Lincoln got to sit in a helicopter and he looked so cute in that big seat!!

We took some pictures by the planes and even got to go in one of the Air Force planes to take a tour. It was really big so we got to take the stroller in with us.

In the afternoon, Linc couldn't take it any longer and he finally gave in to taking a nap...well sort of. We had just put him in the stroller and were walking off when I heard a little boy tell his mom "look at that baby he is asleep". I saw him point to Linc so I looked over at him and sure enough he was sitting straight up and had fallen asleep!! It was the cutest thing ever. I had to video it and snap a quick picture before we laid him down. After we laid him down he slept for probably an hour and then woke up to enjoy the rest of the show with us.

After the day was over I took some pictures of Linc's face. He has been blessed with good skin because now he is sporting a nice tan. Like mommy like son. Next time though we will be way more prepared. Neither of us had been to an air show before and didn't realize it was an all day thing.

Dental Hygiene is Important!!

Linc loves to brush his teeth and it's a good thing because I have a feeling that he will have 4 new teeth come October. The other day I was changing his diaper and he gave me a big smile and I saw two white bulges in his mouth!! They were two of his top teeth. Funny though because they are not the two front teeth, they are the ones right on either side of the front teeth. One of them has already poked through just a bit, enough to feel it with your finger and the other looks ready to pop out any day now! His front two teeth gum are looks pretty swollen so I'm sure those will soon follow. Maybe the way he eats is encouraging his teeth to come in. He will for sure have a mouthful of teeth for his 1st birthday!!!

People are always saying how Linc is such an easy-going little guy. Well he is super chill. I love how he always puts his feet up on his crib railings. I lay him down and he drinks his bottle with his feet up or sometimes I go to get him when he wakes up and he has his feet up just hanging out. At least I know he is super relaxed and not a stressed out baby!

Stand and Play Linc

These days Lincoln cannot get enough of standing. He will pull himself up on anything and everything. He has the strongest little legs. He loves to pull himself up to the couch and some of our storage bins and play on those. He also loves to walk and if you go a bit faster with him he will run...it's really cute to see how his feet keep up with the speed we have him go. Oh and he even goes backwards!

Stake Softball Tournament

We were invited to play in the stake softball tournament a couple weeks ago. It was a super hot day, but a fun one. Poor Dave hung out with Linc instead of playing because of his knee surgery. I wish I was the one that got to hang out with Linc while he played. He would have done a lot better than I did. He and Linc had a good time. Dave got Linc wet with the water bottle and I helped in the end, we wanted to keep the little guy cool. We also had our first Nebraska dog experience. Apparently Nebraska has special hot dogs that are Husker Red that taste pretty good. If you get a hot dog at a game, you get a Nebraska dog...Go Huskers!!

Milk Mustache

8 Month Old Linc

Linc had his 1st "month older" here in Nebraska and turned 8 months old!! He is growing way too fast! Some things he loves to do: laugh, walk with our help, crawl all over, eat big people food, smile, make silly noises and faces, wrestle with his dad, bite my shoulder (he is teething like crazy), pull himself up on things, get into everything, sit himself up (he can go from laying on his back to sitting in like 1 second...this kid is fast), play catch, sing with his beautiful singing voice, throw balls, get tickled, tackle pillows, climb on our big love sac/bean bag and probably so much more that I am forgetting. He is the sweetest, cutest, happiest, smartest little guy ever! We are the luckiest parents in the world.

Our 2nd Visitors

Tim, Tam and John stopped by our place on their drive home from Texas. It was good to see them again and it was so fun to see Tamera and her cute little pregnant belly. Dave had his orientation that day so they all rested until Dave got home. That evening we went to a tour of downtown, which included a quick stop at the football stadium. We found a place called Sam and Louie's Pizza that turned out to be super delicious! I noticed that the manager closed down the outdoor seating area and asked the guys that were sitting there to come in. We figured a storm was on its way, but we had not idea what we were in for! As we were walking out of the door we were bombarded with a blanket of rain being pushed by very strong winds. It was a struggle just to make it across the street, especially for me with the stroller (Dave had Linc) that was being pushed by the wind. I had to pick up the stroller and make my way across the street hoping to not get hit by a car. When I finally met everyone under the protection of the parking garage I saw that we were all SOAKED FROM HEAD TO TOE!! Poor little Linc was shivering. We hurried up and got to the car to be warmed by the heat. The drive home was no better, Dave could hardly see because there were buckets and buckets of rain being poured on the car and the streets were flooded within 10 minutes of the storm starting. It was a crazy experience, but that is how storms are in Nebraska. the rest of their trip went well and the next morning they made it safely to their next destination. Sunday Sleeper

Our first Sunday here we all got up early to get ready for church. None of us were used to a 9am start time since our ward started at 1pm in Utah. Linc is used to taking a nap in the morning before church and we all had our routines. Poor Linc was so tired that morning! I set him down in the living room while I went to the kitchen for less than 5 minutes to finish gathering the things I needed for Linc. I walked back into the living room to get the little guy and this is how I found him...FAST ASLEEP!!! It has been a struggle trying to get on a new schedule, but I think we sort of have it figured out after 4 weeks.

Linc's First Campout

Our second weekend here we went camping with some friends (Colt and Leslie) that we made the first weekend in Nebraska. We were really excited to take Linc on his first camping trip. We had been wanting to take him in Utah, but never got around to it with Dave's surgery. Although camping in Nebraska is a lot different than Utah, we had a lot of fun. It was not as cold as we expected it to be, which was actually a good thing since somehow our sleeping bags were left in Utah. We had a delicious dinner and Linc was visited by a frog that was not shy and jumped on his blanket. Colt and Dave helped Linc have the full experience and let Linc touch it. Linc kept reaching out to grab it, but they didn't let him because he probably would have killed the poor frog. They put it on Linc's arm and then it hopped away when it was done visiting. Linc is such a little trooper, at bed time I was able to put Linc in the tent and I stayed with him for about 10 minutes while he drank his bottle and then I left him as he was dozing off to sleep. He did just fine and when I went to bed I found him passed out completely asleep and did not wake up when I moved him over to make room for us. During the night we were greeted by a pretty big thunder and lighting rainstorm. Linc woke up and watched and after about 30 minutes he went back to sleep. As usual, Linc woke us up in the morning with his self entertaining babble and movements. Dave cooked a wonderful dutch oven breakfast that we all enjoyed...including Linc. There were some leftovers from the s'mores so Linc got his first taste of marshmallow and then devoured the graham crackers, which he got ALL over!! It was a fun and successful trip and we are actually now getting ready for another trip this weekend for our ward camp out...and of course another camping trip with Colt and Leslie in a couple weeks and whoever else wants to join. We want to be sure to get some trips in before the winter season.

After a long day of moving in Ryan and Dave played some Wii while I eagerly began to organize the kitchen. I think I had most of the kitchen done by the time we went to sleep. The boys had fun hanging out and talking...I'm sure some of it had to do with what Dave had to look forward to. While Ryan was here Dave showed him the football stadium and the cool Nebraska Football Game Day Presentation and the Heisman Presentation. It is awesome!! I included a small clip so you can get a small taste of what it was like. The next morning we drove to Omaha to take Ryan to the airport. Thanks again for all your help!!

Good-bye Utah...Hello Nebraska

Dave and Ryan drove the Uhaul to Nebraska and Linc and I had the luxury of flying. We all left pretty early. We had one layover and overall it was a pretty good experience. Linc did amazing on the first flight. He fell asleep at take off and slept the entire way. I changed him from his jammies to a regular outfit during our layover. We got a quick bite to eat that we took on the plane with us. Linc actually got his own seat on the second flight, which was really nice. If I were rich I would do that every time! He cried for about the first 10-15 minutes and then fell asleep. I put him in his car seat and he slept the rest of the way until we landed. Tyler picked us up from the airport and after a quick rest we went to see our new home. We stayed with Tyler and Kelly that night and then then next day we moved in to our place and have been enjoying it ever since. I'll post pictures of our place soon...it is still "under construction"!

Packing Day

Well the day finally came to pack up the Uhaul. We had help from the family and although we were not able to bring everything we were able to fit most things in the 16 foot truck. I knew we had a lot of things, but I did not realize how much stuff we actually have. The truck and the Jeep were full to max capacity.

Linc Loves Foxy!

We had dinner with Grandma Favero and Mike before we left Utah and Linc had a blast! He went crazy over Foxy and even let her give him kisses. Linc would continuously laugh at Foxy and reach for her. Foxy enjoyed playing with Linc's toys more than Linc, but Linc is still too young to realize that. Grandma had this little cowboy thing and Linc wanted to make another new friend. The food was delicious and the company even better. It was a great night.

A "Dutch Oven" Good-bye

We bought some dutch ovens a while ago and had not used them so Dave planned a dutch oven dinner in the canyon with some friends. It was a nice chance to get together once more before we left. The meal turned out AMAZING!! We had cheesy potatoes and a pork tenderloin that came out perfect. Linc and Dave both had their "camping" outfits on...can you say like father like son. It made for some good memories and we finished the night off with some s'mores and guitar playing by the campfire. Oh American Fork Canyon you will be missed.

A New Ride

Dave (with the help of Ryan) convinced me that him buying a scooter would save us money in law school. I didn't fight it too much, after all he had all the numbers and figures laid out for the full three years. When he wants something he definitely does his homework. Dave and Ryan picked it up a few days before we left Utah. The morning he got it he came down to get us so we could see it. Sabrina held Linc while Dave took me for a ride. It was pretty fun, but I have to say I was a bit nervous. Dave just sat with Linc on the scooter...he is definitely NOT taking him for a ride. He has been using the scooter daily and loves it. His favorite part: when the motorcycle guys flash him their cool sign that they have to say hello to a fellow "biker". This week Dave actually got invited to be part of a scooter club...more to follow once he makes his decision.

Dinner and Games

We couldn't leave Utah without one last get together with the coolest people ever! CeCelia and Sommer planned a fun night of Thai food and games. We played a reverse charades type of a game (Rollick I think it's called) and it was sooo much fun! We definitely need to get it. It had been a while since I laughed that hard and it was a good way to say "see ya later", because it is definitely not good-bye. Linc even joined in the fun and moved around like he was trying to act out things for the person to guess. Super fun night...thanks again and we miss you!!

Happy Birthday to Sabrina

We took Sabrina to Pier 49 for her birthday and had a delicious pizza, that she picked, and a yummy strawberry dessert pizza that was so good she licked the plate clean...haha!! After that we stopped at Macy's grocery store and we all got soft serve ice cream. Linc's eyes were about as big as the ice cream cone so we gave him some and he loved it!!He even kept some on his face for later.

Linc has his teeth and he is ready to use them! We were finally able to get some pictures of his teeth, a couple with him showing them on his own too. He has been a little tender and in some pain, but is doing well. He loves to chew on everything and anything he can get his hands or mouth on. He has grabbed my hand a few times and boy does it hurt!

I took him to the doctor the other day and the doctor said that he has very mature gums. He said that they look like the average 9 or 10 month old. I guess Linc is really developing more to the rate of his size instead of age because people always guess that he is several months older than he actually is. The most shocking news from the doctor was that he expects Linc will probably have about 8 teeth by the time he is a year old! Hmmm...steak dinner for his 1st birthday anyone? Haha...just kidding.

I think this might be his first picture where he is smiling so that we can see his cute pearly whites. He is growing so fast. I'm pretty sure I saw tooth #3 getting ready to come in, but we will see when it pops out.

I guess I should be grateful because normally all the biting comes when the child is walking around interacting with all the other kids. Hopefully most of that desire to bite will be gone by the time he starts walking. So bottom line, if you see him and he goes to grab you...WATCH OUT!!

Soccer Fun

We went to pick up Robyn from Soccer camp at BYU. It was pretty hot out as we watched her game, but she enjoyed it. Linc enjoyed being outside for a while. We played around and Robyn and my mom helped me take some pictures of Linc's tooth. You can kind of see it. As I was looking at it I noticed a second tooth!! It popped through already so he is now enjoying his two teeth. I will try to get some pictures, but he is super protective of them. He would actually clench his jaw and not let me in his mouth.

Highland Splash Park

We met the fam at the highland splash park. We had Linc skip his nap so he could go play in the water. He really just wanted to take a nap. I held him pretty much the entire time. He played a little, but really just wanted his crib. It was a fun place to play.

Linc has been moving around a lot! Especially in his crib. This past week, as any day I heard Linc talking to himself through the monitor. I usually just let him hang out for a bit because he does so well. This particular morning I heard him talking and making his new favorite sounds "bababa" and "vavava". I walked in the room and this is what I saw:

He wasn't in pain so I ran to get the camera and took a bunch of pictures and even some video. He was smiling as I was taking pictures and just being his cheery little self.

There have been a few times where I have caught Linc just relaxing with his feet up or with his knee over his other leg...so cute!! I have only been able to capture it a few times and not the best pictures so I will keep trying. I have to say though, I love those sweet little moments that I catch him doing the cutest things.

Life sure can change fast! We took a quick trip to Nebraska to make a final decision on law school. Well we are going to be going to University of Nebraska! The decision is final. At this point we have signed a lease and are making final preparations for our move. Our tour was awesome! We got a personal tour of the awesome football stadium and even got to go down onto the field. It was amazing! We left Linc at home with my mom and little sister who came to visit. It worked out great although we sure did miss him TONS!!

4th of July WEEKEND

It started with a day in the convertible. We went to have lunch at park and then we took some pictures of the Eclipse in case we decide to sell it. Linc took some pictures in it with the top down. He also had his first ride with the top down. I sat in the back with him and he ended up falling asleep about half way home.

Then firework watching from a school that had a ton of people doing their own fireworks before the big show. It was super fun and Linc loved all the cool flashes and lights. We put him in his little air force outfit to keep him warm.

Sunday we had a BBQ at home and enjoyed a nice day outside in the backyard.

Monday morning (4th) was Linc's big day!! We were in the 4th of July parade. We were all so proud of Dave who walked the entire parade route about 2 weeks post op. Linc fell asleep for part of the parade, but enjoyed it while he was up. We got to see a bunch of friends and of course our family was there to cheer on little Linc. It's actually a pretty crazy parade, Ryan got up at like 4:30am to get a spot on the route!! Thanks Ryan =)

That night we got to go to the Real Salt Lake practice field to see the fireworks from Thanksgiving Point. Thanks to Clint who works at Xango who got us all the first class seating. It was a little sketchy at first with all the sprinklers, but we eventually got to a spot that was not wet and enjoyed out night. I brought some glow sticks back from California that we also enjoyed that night. Linc was "talking" pretty much the entire show giving his comments after each firework...he actually sounded like his daddy! Like father, like son...Overall it was another wonderful 4th of July

Summer Trip to California!!

Linc and I took a trip to California (Dave had ACL surgery earlier that week and had to stay home) for Misty's graduation. We had a fun time! Linc got to see his aunt's, uncle's, cousin's, and great grandparents. David had a bbq in our honor and Duece and Makayla cleaned the corn, which turned out DELICIOUS!! Linc played in the little pool with his cousin Kaisun and enjoyed a little cool down from the hot heat.

Linc and I walked to the beach on Monday morning and spent some time hanging out on the sand and playing a little bit in the water. He was very curious about the sand and ended up tasting it more than one time! He loves sitting on the beach and watching the waves crash on the shore.

After the beach I used my sister's awesome camera and had a fun photo shoot with Linc. Here are some of my fave's:

Linc did such a good job with flying. He was a bit upset on our way to California, but when we got on the plane it felt like it was over 100 degrees!!! He cried a bit, but fell asleep when the plane took off and when he woke up towards the end he was just fine. The way home he did amazing! He was super happy (the plane was nice and cool) and sat on my lap and fell asleep again at take off and I actually had to wake him up when we landed.

4-6 months...they grow so fast

On Linc's 4 month mark we started him on solids. He was definitely ready! We started with banana and other foods he tried that month include: sweet potato, oatmeal, asparagus, potato, peas, and carrots. He loves food and the older he gets the more he wants.

Linc gives us the thumbs up to holding his own bottle. He gets creative in how he holds it and can even palm his bottle...and other things.

We were laying outside one day and I decided to take some pictures of Linc...this was the result:

Linc loves to grab, eat and play with his toes. If he is sitting up he will fold in half and go after his toes. He can do this over and over and over!

Visiting daddy at his new job. We stopped by for a quick lunch and a chance to sit in a big person's chair.

Linc's first trip to the mountains. We drove up the canyon on a nice Friday evening and enjoyed nature. Linc loves water, it relaxes him to hear and watch and of course play in it.

It was super windy outside so Dave took Linc outside for a while to show him the wind and let the wind blow through his hair. We think he liked it...although it was definitely a new experience for him.

On June 18th I took Linc to the Freedom Festival baby contest. We just wanted to have fun and didn't expect to win. While I sat there with him during the results I was so happy when they announced that he won FIRST PLACE!!! I called Dave to tell him the good news (he was at the Wasatch back Ragnar) and he was so happy. There was a photographer there that day so we got some pics of him. Both of my boys got medals that day. I am so proud of them both, especially since Dave ran with a torn ACL.

Father's Day: Linc and I got Dave some cool grill tools, grill books, a basting set, lefty scissors and of course some patriotic stuff. He also got breakfast in bed...Linc wanted some of the food so kept trying to grab Dave's plate.

First Baseball Game!!! Yeah Orem Owlz!!! We went to the game with Andrew and Sabrina and met Steve, Ellie, and Lily at the game. It was firework night and super packed! We had a blast and Linc LOVED the fireworks...he watched with his big eyes in amazement at all the lights in the sky. Our team won that night so it turned out to be a great night.

The first THREE months

Linc's first real bath...he is about 3 weeks even though he looks like he is 2 or 3 months old. He didn't like the cold, but now he splashes and makes the biggest mess ever!! Super fun and cute.

We loved when he would sleep with his arms straight up in the air...I don't know how that could ever be comfortable.

We got his prints done...a treasure to keep forever. He started off okay, but the clay was really cold and he didn't like it by the end. It turned out really cute and we have it for his room when we move.

His first Valentine's day! We had a wonderful day and made cookies to finish the night. This is our family cookie:

Visit to daddy's work for his good-bye party...they all loved every time we brought in the baby. We miss all those wonderful people.

Linc's 2 month pics:

Date night with mommy and daddy. We went mini golfing indoors at a black light type course. It was pretty fun, but Linc was ready to go home by the middle of the course and ended up falling asleep. I think he and Dave won!

Our first road trip!! We went to Sacramento to check out a law school. Linc did amazing!! It was a 10 hour trip and he only fussed like twice for a couple minutes each time. We stopped at the Salt Lake flats and got out to take some pics.

We stayed at aunt Sophie's and saw cousin's Jason and Angie. On the way back there was a huge storm and they closed the entire freeway to clear the way. It was a pretty scary drive back, but our new Jeep could handle anything!

Linc's first haircut!!! For his three month celebration we cut his hair. It was pretty long and he needed it. I have to say we were both pretty sad after, but he has a head full of hair and has already had three haircuts to date (6 1//2 months)

First trip to the park. I ran to the park with Linc in our cool jogging stroller. We met Krystal and the kids, had lunch, played, and then we ran back home. He grabbed the swing chains like a pro!

Second road trip to California, this time to So Cal to run the Ragnar. This was an eventful weekend for Linc. He got to see all of his cousins out there and had his first overnight without mommy or daddy. He was in good hands though. He stayed with Auntie Christie and was just fine. We also went to take some family pictures at the San Juan Capistrano mission and at the beach. Linc loved the beach! We don't have the pics yet because my poor sister is pregnant and has had a very rough time so far. Those are soon to come. Linc also got blessed that weekend with his cousin Kaisun. It was fun, eventful, and memorable!

EASTER: We had a pre-Easter egg hunt at Dave's parent's home. Linc did pretty good! He got $4.50 and lots of candy for us. On Easter morning we opened up the baskets that the Easter bunny left for us. Linc hooked his arm right around his. He was sitting up on his own, but only for about 10-15 seconds at this point.

The first three months were amazing! It's crazy how fast they grow and how quickly they learn new things. We fell in love with our little Linc and our love for him continues to grow and grow.

Our Hospital Stay

The next day we spent our 2 year anniversary recovering from such an eventful day. My mom brought us cheesecake, balloons and flowers. I had been wanting red velvet cheesecake and my mom looked all over, but couldn't find any so she brought us an assortment of cheesecakes and a #2 candle.

Dave enjoyed the time in the hospital caring for Linc. He helped feed Linc because he had difficulty eating in the beginning. I think he may have even changed a diaper or two!

The day finally came that we got to go home. We put on our matching outfits and got Linc in his car seat. A nurse helped us carry stuff to the car. I was given the option to walk to be wheeled out and I walked to the car.

We were so happy to have our little guy at home and enjoy every minute!

My sister, brother-in-law, and nephew came to visit for new year's and she took pictures of Linc for his birth announcement. They came out super cute! She even designed the announcement for us.

Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday LINCOLN

On Christmas morning I thought I had gone in to labor. We waited it out a bit and then made our way to the hospital to get checked out. We were there for about an hour, but the nurse said that because I was in early labor I could go home if I wanted and come back a bit later. We went home and enjoyed some Christmas breakfast and presents.

We went back to the hospital shortly after breakfast and presents. We spent the rest of the day waiting for our long awaited present and at 9:46pm he finally arrived!!! The crazy thing is that there were 4 other babies born that day, one in the morning and the other three about the same time as Linc. All baby boy's on Christmas...coincidence?

Everyone was shocked by how big Linc was coming from such a small person. I guess it explains why my tummy was SO big! He was measured at 8.14 lbs and 21 1/4 in.

Dave and I were so happy. My mom spent the whole day with us too and was a big help.

Dave stayed with Linc while they took him to a nursery and bathed him and then he brought him to me in our room in a stocking that Linc can keep forever. We will always remember this very special Christmas day.
